On October 8, 1881 a man killed three people and wounded twelve others in a village near Wonosobo, Dutch East Indies.

While most of the other men of the village were working in the fields, or building a new bridge, the perpetrator took a bamboo stick, sharpened it on both ends, and then set fire to his own house. When women and children rushed to the scene to help, he attacked them, killed one woman and two children, and seriously injured twelve others, before he was subdued and killed by the villagers.[1]
