Søren Vestergaard was a Danish farmer who killed his wife and five children at the farm Sønderkjær in Hee, a town near Ringkøbing, Denmark on January 28, 1969.

That night, the 49-year-old, who supposedly had financial problems, strangled his wife Gudrun in their bedroom with an electric cord, and then killed his sons Anton, Holger, and Ole in the same manner. His other sons, Egon and Jens Kristian, were also strangled with the cord, but the former additionally had his skull fractured, while the latter was shot in the head with a shotgun at close range.

Vestergaard remained on the farm for the next few days and probably on January 30 committed suicide in his bedroom by shooting himself in the head with his shotgun. Vestergaard and the already decomposing bodies of his family members were discovered the following day, at about 12:15 p.m., by a waiter, who then called the police.[1][2][3][4]
