Richard Komakech was an Ugandan soldier who killed 26 people and wounded 13 others at a wedding party in Naguru, Kampala, Uganda on June 26, 1994.

When Irene Ati, one of the guests, declined his request to dance with him, Komakech, a member of the Anti-Smuggling Unit, began rioting and was expelled from the festivities. The drunken private went to fetch a semi-automatic rifle and returned to the party about ten minutes later, where he first killed Irene Ati and then started shooting randomly at the others. 14 people died on the spot and 12 more later succumbed to their injuries in hospital, while 13 others were seriously wounded.

Komakech eventually turned the gun on himself and attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the mouth, but suffered only wounds to his forehead and pretended to be dead until police arrived. Although the officers tried to prevent the guests from lynching him, Irene Ati's father managed to break through the police cordon and killed Komakech by smashing in his skull.[1][2][3][4][5]
