During the night of February 3 to February 4, 1933 an Ivorian tirailleur killed eight natives and wounded two others in Lomé, French Togoland. The soldier, whose company had been dispatched to the city after unrests in the area, took the rifle and cartridges of one of his comrades and then left his quarters. Wandering around the settlement he fired at anyone he encountered, until he was surrounded and shot dead by two militiamen.[1][2][3]
