Léon Gillette was a French tenant farmer who killed his wife and five grandchildren in their sleep at a farm in Le Tronquay, France on April 15, 1952. The 70-year-old crushed his wife's skull with fire tongs, and used a straight razor to cut the throats of his grandchildren, who were eight months to five years old. He then set the house on fire, before hanging himself in the kitchen. Gillette was apparently despondent, because he was about to be evicted from the farm he had lived at for 14 years, and was unable to find another lodging for himself and his family.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
