On May 20, 1887 a sepoy of the 26th Native Infantry killed eleven people in Karachi, British Raj. At 1 a.m. that night the soldier armed himself with a gun and 40 rounds of ammunition and first shot two sleeping sepoys in the barrack verandah. He then went to the soldiers' bazaar, where he killed four shopkeepers sleeping outside their houses, before he proceeded to the plain behind the infantry lines and shot dead five cartmen. By that time the regiment was already on alert and searched for him, so he took refuge in a stone enclosure, from where he fired at his pursuers. When two sepoys closed in on his hideout he committed suicide by shooting himself in the heart.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
