Gregor Makranicz was a Lithuanian barber's assistant who killed seven people and wounded an eighth at a hair salon in Kaunas, Lithuania in May 1930, before being arrested.

The 35-year-old, who had been an employee at the hair salon named "Central" for many years and was supposedly insane, killed his customers by cutting their throats with a straight razor and afterwards hid their bodies in an adjoining parlour.

Eventually an army major entered the shop for a shave. After the man had taken his seat Makranicz lathered his face, and then attacked him with the razor, though the officer managed to draw his revolver in time and shot his attacker in the chest. After disarming Makranicz, who was gravely wounded, the major heard someone moaning from the adjacent room, and together with some passers-by he had called in discovered the bodies of eight men, only one of whom was still alive. Among the dead was the director of the Lithuanian National Bank.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
