In March 1909 a Negarese hawker killed 14 people in a village by the Kahayan River on the island Borneo, Dutch East Indies.

The man and two other hawkers were in the village to collect outstanding receivables, but for unknown reasons a dispute arose between the merchants and the villagers, during which his colleagues were killed. Upon finding them murdered the Negarese ran amok among the village population.[1][2][3]
